Nieuwe zangeres uit oude tijden – New singer from old times February 2010

Klein, frêle, uit andere tijden. Die indruk laat de Canadese zangeres Nathalie Matteau na. Bijna twee jaar geleden kwam ze voor het eerst naar Nederland, dit jaar wil ze zich er voorgoed vestigen. Om haar artistieke credo uit te dragen: terugkeer naar de artistieke jaren twintig en dertig van de vorige eeuw. Met een machtig stemgeluid lijkt dat zeker te gaan lukken.

Small, frail and from different times. That's the impression the Canadian singer Nathalie Matteau gives. About two years ago, she came to the Netherlands for the first time. This year she wants to settle here for good, to carry out her creative credo: a return to the artistic twenties and thirties of the previous century. With her powerful voice she is bound to be successful.

Aan de zwier met Les Hommes Perdus....
Dat Nathalie Matteau iets bijzonders te bieden heeft is voor iedereen bekend die haar precies een jaar geleden voor de eerste keer op ons podium bezig zag. Voor een vol café presenteerde ze nu een gewijzigde band en die wijziging leek nog beter aan te sluiten bij haar gepassioneerde voordrachten. Met liefst drie blazers (bas en altsax, schuiftrombone en mondharmonica en de bombardon – als een soort breed uitgevallen tuba) kreeg Matteau's muziek een gedragen, soms prettig pompeus aanvoelende ondergrond. lees verder

Dit alles te danken aan Nathalie Matteau, die met haar entourage bij de eerste noot gelijk haar publiek bij de hand greep en meevoerde in een levendige luistersessie die aanvoelde als een passionele tango.
